Everyone’s brain is unique and many people’s function in quite similar ways; meaning they are neurotypical. However, around 20% of the population, have “neurodiverse brains”. Common neurodiverse conditions include autism, ADHD FASD and dyslexia.

It is estimated that nearly 50 percent of people with neurodiversity are unemployed. Many neurodiverse people have challenges finding work and keeping it. Sometimes they can be perceived as “different” and “not fitting in.” Yet, often with a little understanding these people can become great employees and fit into the workplace.

This webinar will help employers and co-workers to understand neurodiversity and recognize how to make the workplace more welcoming to someone who is neurodiverse.

We will go over some practical ways that employers can support their neurodiverse staff and customers and understand some of the triggers and stressors that can affect neurodiverse people.

Michael Hempseed is the author the Being A True Hero: Understanding and Preventing Suicide in Your Community and the co-author of Calming your Child and. He has spoken to the NZ Defence Force, Fonterra, NZ Post, Fire and Emergency NZ and many others. Michael gained an honours degree in Psychology from the University of Canterbury in 2008. In 2016 he spoke at TEDx.He aims to take complex scientific information and present it in an insightful and fascinating way.
